Una fuga magnifica, uno sforzo bestiale, nessun premio. L’olandese sfida la calura della Loira, se ne va al chilometro zero per accompagnare il compagno Jonas Rickaert che voleva il premio alla combattività, guadagna oltre 5’ di vantaggio, è maglia gialla virtuale a lungo, costringe la Lidl-Trek a un super lavoro e arriva da solo fino a 700 metri dal traguardo, dove la crudeltà di Cavendish City spezza il suo sogno.
